The small caving is finished. Now for the 2′ sculpture!

Getting the basic shape of the carving. I’ll be using all hand tools…knives and gouges.

1-7-2012 Starting a new project is always fun. Here is the design for the carving. The finished piece will be about24″ tall and carved in mahogany.

Once the design is finalized, I sketch a quick side-view. I now have a pattern to use for cutting out a 3-dimensional blank.

I am carving a smaller version of the troll, about 6 1/2″, in butternut before starting the large carving
