1-20-2011 – Lamp and shade finished. Photos taken with existing daylight and lamp turned on.
1-20-2011 -It’s a shade! I just have to put the jute rope trim on and it’ll be finished. the photos were taken using natural light…the shade design will show up a lot more when the lamp is put together and turned on. Photos to follow.
1-15-2011 – After allowing the paper to uncurl for a few days, I have cut out the shade pattern and transferred the design onto the back sid eof the shade. Today I’ll start cutting the design.
1-8-2011 -I have already carved the fisherman in this buoy, and it is all wired and ready for a shade.
I make the cut and pierced shades for these lamps, and have a couple of designs that I like to use. Here’s one design on a completed lampshade:
Here’s the newer design with a lobster boat instead of a sail boat.
Superb job- love the overall design. Did you use an X-Acto blade to cut the shade? What is the material?
Thank you, Donna. Yes, I I use an X-Acto blade to cut the design, a stylus type tool to open up the straigh and slightly curved lines and shape the deeper curves by hand. The shade is a heavyweight textured paper, like a watercolor paper.
